Asphalt & Roading Services

Hot Mix Asphalt Supply & Production Capabilities

TARMAC NZ operates a fully compliance-certified, high-capacity asphalt manufacturing facility centrally located in Kerikeri. The plant maintains a production capacity of 50 to 70 tonnes of premium hot mix asphalt per hour, enabling us to seamlessly scale and support commercial project demands ranging from 10 to 500 tonnes per day.

Asphalt provides a superior, high-durability wearing surface with optimal smoothness and reduced tyre-road noise compared to traditional concrete. While asphalt requires a properly engineered sub-base to account for its flexible structural characteristics, it delivers exceptional longevity and cost-efficiency for high-traffic environments.

Following rigorous subgrade preparation and compaction testing, materials are deployed using our automated 2023 Bomag BF600 asphalt paver. Equipped with advanced sonic-sensor technology for precise leveling, this machinery supports continuous paving widths from 1.2 to 7.2 metres. Our operational capabilities accommodate application thicknesses ranging from a 10mm blinding coat to a 250mm structural layer, precise to engineering specifications.

Bituminous Surface Treatments (Tar & Chip Sealing)

Chip sealing offers a highly pragmatic, robust, and cost-effective surfacing alternative for large-scale infrastructure. TARMAC NZ precisely engineers the grade and dimension of the sealing chip to align with the specific operational demands of the asset, factoring in anticipated vehicle weights, axle configurations, and design speeds.

Our asset fleet is fully equipped to execute major asset lifecycle and resealing contracts. TARMAC NZ utilizes a 2019 E2-certified bitumen sprayer configuration featuring a 4-metre variable spray bar, supported by three high-capacity 6-wheel chip spreaders. To guarantee uninterrupted material supply on large-scale regional projects, our logistics fleet includes a dedicated 25,000-litre bulk bitumen bridging truck and trailer unit.

Civil Roading & Infrastructure Construction

TARMAC NZ delivers comprehensive delivery solutions for civil roading infrastructure, spanning complex residential entranceways to extensive 20-kilometre highway alignments and capital reconstructions. We possess the internal project management framework, qualified technical personnel, specialized plant, and heavy machinery required to execute large-scale civil works from design validation to handover.

Our methodology prioritizes strict traffic management integration and public safety compliance to minimize stakeholder disruption. Driven by a culture of safety and operational innovation, our project teams continuously implement engineering solutions that maximize asset lifecycle value and elevate construction quality standards

Subgrade & Base Stabilisation Services

As a critical phase of heavy roading construction, TARMAC NZ offers specialized mechanical and chemical soil stabilisation services. Utilizing our high-performance 2014 Case Puma 270hp tractor integrated with a STEHR 2.4m road mill, we achieve superior structural homogeneity and CBR values. TARMAC NZ leads the Northland market in executing sustainable civil works, offering advanced, environmentally certified stabilising methodologies that deliver carbon-reduced alternatives unmatched by regional competitors.

Civil Drainage & Utilities Installation

TARMAC NZ commands extensive technical expertise in the installation of civil drainage networks and stormwater management infrastructure. We leverage advanced trenching and micro-tunnelling methodologies designed to optimize cost-efficiency while significantly reducing the operational footprint and safety risks associated with extended open excavations. Strong procurement frameworks with key tier-one civil suppliers ensure project delivery remains strictly on schedule and within commercial budget allocations.

Commercial Kerbing & Channelling

We provide high-precision, continuous slipform kerbing services tailored to commercial specifications. TARMAC NZ offers six standardized asset profiles to accommodate diverse civil and architectural layouts, including heavy-duty industrial carpark perimeters, stormwater kerb and channel configurations, asset boundary edging, and architectural interlocking blocks.

Asset Access & Vehicle Crossings

Construction of vehicle crossings and industrial entranceways is strictly governed by Local Territorial Authority and Waka Kotahi (NZTA) design standards. TARMAC NZ provides full regulatory consultation, navigating compliance frameworks to deliver approved access solutions that satisfy both legal mandates and the client's logistical operational needs.

Engineered Retaining Structures

Maximising land utility within challenging topographical contours requires engineered retaining solutions. Long-term structural integrity requires asset-specific design and integrated hydrodynamic drainage networks. Backed by over 40 years of localized geotechnical experience across complex New Zealand soil profiles, TARMAC NZ engineers and constructs retaining assets built for structural permanence.

Pavement Rehabilitation & Maintenance Services

Preserve and extend the lifecycle of your pavement assets through our targeted civil maintenance programs. TARMAC NZ manages localized structural rehabilitation, pothole patching, structural crack sealing, and surface remediation. Prior to project commencement, our technical team provides a comprehensive asset condition assessment and options analysis, ensuring clear transparency regarding performance outcomes and asset longevity.

Major Earthworks & Industrial Land Contouring

TARMAC NZ possesses a proven track record in bulk earthworks, precision site grading, and civil land contouring designed to optimize commercial land utilization. Our advanced hydrological awareness ensures that erosion control and stormwater runoff management are fully integrated, mitigating environmental risks during extreme weather events.

Our corporate portfolio features high-volume earthworks contracts, including the movement of over 50,000m³ of fill across premier subdivisions such as Okiato Point, Point Veronica, and Keri Grove, alongside recent major civil site preparations for premium architectural estates throughout the Kerikeri region.
